Launch a technology platform to drive the implementation of the zebrafish model (09/12/2008)

Several research centers and other organizations have launched a technology platform to drive the implementation of the animal model of zebrafish (Danio rerio) in scientific activities.

This fish is considered an "excellent biological model" for application in various scientific and technical areas, such as Biomedicine, Environment, Aquaculture and Food.

Its high degree of genetic similarity to higher vertebrates and humans, its ease of use and reproduction and the potential for the application of new genomic and proteomic technologies make the use of this fish is rapidly spreading in the world science and business.

In this platform, known as "DAREnet" research group participates at the University of Murcia led by Professor Victoriano Mulero, Department of Cell Biology and Histology.
