The University of Murcia has added two sign language interpreters for hearing-impaired students in a pioneering project that coordinates the Counseling and Guidance Services Staff (CCES).
This new university provision is to promote equal opportunities and full integration into the academic world of students with this disability.
The work of both professional sign language translators will be complemented with the assistance of an intern to perform their work in classrooms to support the processes of oral communication or sign for the students.
The service has been launched through a collaboration agreement between the University and the Ministry for Social Policy and the CAM, channeled through the CCES, a body belonging to the Vice President for Student.
