Approval of the installation of security cameras to protect the gardens (26/11/2008)

Murcia City Council will shortly begin installing surveillance cameras in gardens so that residents can enjoy greater prosperity and freedom.

These new systems will be installed at the busiest parks, are intended to prevent the commission of offenses and acts of vandalism.

At the same time seeking to prevent crime, will also promote the protection and the conservation and custody of assets.

The Governing Board today gave its approval to the specifications for the supply and installation of this system, amounting to 155,440 euros.

The implementation of this initiative is the implementation of

a new election commitment by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, which included this proposal in the program that went to the polls last year, within the planned measures to increase the safety of Murcia.

This initiative is already in place in other Spanish cities, including Madrid and Malaga.

The project involves the installation of a total of 25 television cameras fixed in 7 gardens: Three Cups -4 cameras, "Constitution -3 -, Salitre -4 - -5 Malecón - Fofó -2 - Ronda Sur -2 - and Silk -5 -.

In the case of the Malecón, plus five fixed cameras installed the project foresees the placement of an emergency number - "Poste SOS" - similar to those available in the highways, after lifting, automatically connect to the police station Local.
