The Minister of Justice inaugurated the course on law and jurisprudence on water (24/11/2008)

The course on legislation and case law on water resources, organized by the Center for Legal Studies of the Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the University of Murcia, was opened today by Minister Mariano Fernandez Bermejo in a ceremony attended by the rector University, José Antonio Cobacho.

The Graduate Hall School of Law, Justice Minister welcomed these meetings which deal with such a complex issue like water from a legal and academic perspective, and "the principle of solidarity and common sense "as references.

In this regard, Fernandez Bermejo said that these days are ideal to raise awareness outside the region as well that water is managed in Murcia, because sometimes there is a distorted view on this.

Fernández Bermejo Minister also expressed his confidence that this course is the beginning of an intense collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the University of Murcia.

After the opening ceremony, the Supreme Court judge Rafael Fernandez held a conference that discussed the rules on water in the Spanish context.

In the afternoon sessions and evening, to be held in convalescence, home of the Chancellor, will be a panel discussion on legal and technical aspects of water, while the director of the Legal Service of the Council of Europe, Manuel Lezertua, will speak on the European Court of Human Rights.
