Salvador Marín presents the "Scientific Card 'which allows disclosure to visit five spaces for free over the weekend (06/11/2008)

The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, inaugurated this morning the VIII Week of Science, which counts as new with the 'scientific Card', a passport that allows you to enjoy during the days of the sample of free visits to five outreach centers.

In particular, all visitors to the site located in the Botanical Gardens of El Malecon de Murcia receive the 'Scientific Card' to access for four days at the Aquarium and the Museum José Loustau Rector of the University of Murcia, the Museum of Science and Water, the City of Murcia, the Astronomical Observatory of La Murta, Murcia Astronomical Association, and Ceutimagina, the City of Ceuta.

"The Ministry, through the Seneca Foundation wants to create medium and long term, a scientific network of sites and museums at the regional level to bring all citizens awareness.

In principle, a modest start with this passport, but we hope this initiative grows, both in number of related areas as in the days that can be visited using the 'scientific Card', "said Salvador Marin.

Also, the counselor used the official opening of the fair to thank the 47 participating institutions to support Science Week and the dissemination of knowledge throughout society.

Remember that the Science Week, the second sample of scientific largest in Spain, has this year with more than 300 activities of an educational and recreational, including demonstrations, workshops, experiments, exhibitions, theater and puppetry scientific visits , botanical walk, scientific magic, fun and planetary science, among others.

To accommodate this wide range, 70 stands were installed, six more than last year, five tents, a planetarium, a scientific child care, a great stage for the scientific and puppet theater, and three exhibition areas.

Specifically, the Fair is organized into six major areas: @ rquímedes on engineering, ICT and innovation, Galileo, mathematics, physics, astronomy, Cajal, aimed at biology, nutrition and health; Keynes, for businesses, Darwin, chemistry and environment, and Florida, the social sciences.

Three exhibitions

Also, the three exhibition spaces have the following signs: "Women mathematics through the ages', developed in collaboration with the Museum of Science and Water, and completes its offer with math games and activities based on the findings of these scientific, 'The Earth as a work of art', the German Helmholtz Association, which serves to commemorate the Year of Planet Earth, which displays beautiful images of our planet taken by satellites, the German Aerospace Center, and finally and to proclaim the start of International Year of Astronomy in January 2009, the Seneca Foundation, together with the Astronomical Association of the Region of Murcia and the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia, mounted the exhibition "From the Earth to the Universe ', presented in Murcia City as national scoop.

The objective of the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research with Science Week is to give the region a stage for the meeting and participation of citizens, for entire families in the scientific enterprise and to bridge the gap between those who make science and who see through their daily life, diluting the roles of actors and audience.

The grounds of Botanic Park Malecon today and tomorrow will be open from 10:00 to 14:00, and 17:00 to 21:00.

On Saturday and Sunday hours are 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21.00.
