Reverte extols the role of veterinarians in ensuring the purity of the bullfights (06/11/2008)

The Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, today praised the role of veterinarians in different bullfights, as they help to "ensure that viewers of their rights and the purity of our National Day of excellence."

Reverte made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the Sixth World Congress of Veterinary Taurino, held in Murcia until 8 November and will feature 42 speakers from various fields related to bullfighting, as farmers, bullfighters, politicians, doctors and journalists.

At panel discussions and lectures attended by 300 professionals in the field of veterinary science applied to the world of bullfighting from Spain, Portugal, France and several Latin American countries.

Throughout the three days in which will be held this symposium, organized by the General Council of Veterinary of Spain, the College of Veterinarians of Murcia and the Association of Veterinarians Taurinos (AVET), will address various aspects of scientific , ethical, legal, artistic, cultural, economic and social partners to bullfighting.

The head of Murcia Presidency stressed the international vocation of Congress as "dialogue and discussion forum for professionals within and outside our borders" and expressed his belief that during his sessions, draw conclusions and proposals "that will further advance a field as demanding as veterinary science applied to the world of bullfighting. "

He recalled the great bullfighting tradition that holds the Murcia Region, which hosts numerous events annually that attract such the presence of a large number of fans.

Events in which the essential role played by veterinarians, "as the Feast of the bulls is much more than murderers, cattle and bulls," defended Reverte.

The Minister stressed that the current rules in force, put a special interest in ensuring the integrity of the bulls, their health and courage, and no manipulation of its antlers, since, as stressed, "no one won conditions, is not only committing a fraud with the public and the always reprehensible manipulation of our National Day, but, moreover, affect the substance of it. "
