A total of 13 musical groups participating this year in the National Contest XVIII Bands "Ciudad de Murcia", an event that will take place on 2, 8 and 9 November at the Regional Auditorio "Victor Villegas".
The first musical groups to participate next Sunday, 2 to 18 hours, will be the bands belonging to the third section, that is, those that do not exceed 50 parts.
This group includes three bands from Valencia and Murcia, namely the Union Musical de Torre Pacheco.
The competition continues next weekend, 8 and 9 November, with the participation of the bands second and first sections, ie those with between 51 and 70 musicians and has 90 components, respectively.
In these groups, musical groups involved Valencia, Alicante, Cuenca and Murcia.
The proceedings of the event is that each band has to play an obligatory piece and then another piece of free choice.
Thus, the jury made this year for musicians and composers such as Fernando Bonnet Piqueras, Manuel Seco de Arpe and Juan José Navarro-could evaluate aspects such as interpretation, harmony and sonority of each band and thus rate them.
Only awards, the City of Murcia intended just over 20,000 euros to be divided among the top three bands in each group or section.
Moreover, just by participating, each contestant receiving aid bands ranging from 2,300 euros in the first section and 1,500 euros for the third section bands.
This edition of the Bands contest has been a greater number of participant groups with respect to previous years, having opted to contest a total of 18 bands, following the draw held in June, were reduced to 14.
A last minute training Benimaclet (Valencia) included in the first section of the program, has renounced his participation for various reasons that justified to the organization of the event.
