The premiere Churra Occupational Center building next year (29/10/2008)

Churra Occupational Center, who visited this afternoon the Minister for Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, have a new building along with the current along the next year to care for people with mental disabilities severely affected.

The works in progress, were awarded at 5,220,000 euros.

The new center will have a capacity of 100 seats (80 internal users and 20 day hospital), 16 more than those in the present.

The surface of the building over the garden areas will be 9,000 square meters, of which 7,790 under construction.

In the current premises is a residence designed to provide permanent housing to 80 individuals who, because of their particular personal and family circumstances, can not remain at home.

Most are high-dependency with an average age of 40 years.

It also operates a day center that provides users with the same four basic health care services and specialized inmates.

They have shuttle service for commuting between home and school.

The main objective is to facilitate personal and social development of users through comprehensive care for their basic needs and specialized individual programs.

Relatives of the users are organized in the Association of Parents and Families which has 75 members.

This public facility that is staffed by 130 employees today celebrated its sixteenth anniversary with a series of recreational and cultural activities that will extend throughout the entire day.
