The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, gathered last night the appointment as "Honorary Member" of the Spanish Association Against Cancer "in gratitude for their unselfish collaboration" with this group.
The award was presented by the chairman of the AECC in Murcia, Dr. Agustin Navarrete, in the course of dinner every year brings together hundreds of Murcia working with this organization, dedicated to the wellbeing of cancer patients and their families.
Camera showed his appreciation for receiving a distinction that in his opinion, gives him "for doing what we do, which is trying to work to come to fruition all the initiatives that result in a benefit for everyone."
In this sense, the Mayor said "the AECC in Murcia done an extraordinary job and needed a new facility in accordance with the service provided."
Therefore, within the scope of its collaboration with the Municipality of Murcia AECC highlights the transfer of a site located near the Avenida Juan de Borbon on which will rise the new headquarters, whose works will begin before year's end.
The land has an area of nearly one thousand square meters and its value is estimated at 1.8 million euros.
In addition to the distinction made by the Mayor, the AECC also recognized as Honorary Members, 2008 at the Cultural Association "L'Ajuntaera", the Association of Friends of the Dance of Murcia and 82 local boards of the AECC.
