An urban concert for motor vehicles will put an end to Alter Art Festival (10/10/2008)

The emerging art festival Art Alter will end next Sunday with a new show sound Llorenç Barber and Harry Max.

This morning, the director of the Institute for Youth, Veronica Lopez, presented the concert 'La Gran Via An allegory and homage to the twentieth century', "one of the flagship projects of the festival" in the words of Lopez, "and that will the finale to a week of intense artistic activity on the streets and squares of the city. "

The ceremony was also attended by the creators of the show, Llorenç Barber and Harry Max, and festival director, Hernán Rodríguez.

The concert will be held at the world premiere on Sunday October 12th at 22:00 pm in the Gran Via de Murcia.

According to Enrique Up to this event, "we chose a symbolic street of the city, perhaps best represented with all its contradictions.

With it, the city was divided in the middle of the century into two parts, and the concert has to do with the dispute between these two parts: the modernity and the past.

Thus, the past is represented by metal bands, choirs and drums, and modernity, with the car, the great achievement of the twentieth century "and added," because it is a parable and allegory of the last century, we dedicated to one of the best musicians of recent decades in the region: the cellist Miguel Angel Clare, who was very young when he participated in our first concert of bells. "

To perform this show is closed to the public for an hour, four lanes of the Gran Via Murcia, which will be occupied by different types of vehicles.

Max noted that "there will be vehicles of all forms, from vintage cars from the years 20 (Rolls Royce, Cadillac ...) to vehicles with alarms or sirens.

They will all be sorted in harmony and dialogue with traditional elements. "

In total "will direct some 800 participants: 350 drums, 300 singers in the chorus, bicycles and skaters, 25 fixed and 25 mobile vehicles, eight and 12 metal quintet tubas, as well as timers, because everything is synchronized," said Barber

Will show in the street, on the balcony of the Gran Via and in heaven where there will be sequenced bursts of whistles and pyrotechnics that put an end to the show and the festival Alter Art.

For its creators this is a conspiracy to imagine, that is out of the auditoriums and theaters to say that art is in the street, where life is at stake.

After ten years in the making show, which will come first in Murcia, Max called it 'strange, odd, unusual and daring' and acknowledged that 'you can like it or not but it means a great deal for the city of Murcia, will much debate and open many doors. "
