Camera: "From Murcia asked Congress to shield the Tajo-Segura" (10/10/2008)

Extraordinary plenary held today at the City of Murcia has agreed to defend the Tajo-Segura and the rejection of the proposed reform of the Statute of Castilla La Mancha.

The opinion has been supported by 28 of the 29 members of the Corporation, to be supported by PP and PSOE and the abstention of the mayor of Izquierda Unida.

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, has clarified that the rejection of the Statute of Castilla La Mancha relates only to aspects that modify the operating system or the legal system of the Tajo-Segura.

Similarly, the resolution adopted this morning by the city of Murcia implies opposition to any unilateral change of rules that currently govern.

House has pointed to the constitutionality of any statute of autonomy invasive powers of the State, and therefore considers it necessary that the legal services of the Autonomous Community and the Government of the Nation to develop their opinions that their attention.

Thus, the City Council rejected the amendment of rules and laws governing the joint use of the Tajo-Segura, as he considers that "the solution to the structural deficit in the Segura basin must, in addition to good management water, maintenance and consolidation of the Tajo-Segura, ensuring adequate flow of contributions to the needs of the basin, and basin water transfers surplus to ensure environmental sustainability and viability of our economic development. "

It was also said a resounding "rejection of the draft amendment of the Statute of Castilla la Mancha for being unconstitutional and undermining the unity of Spain and against the general interests of Spanish society."

Will also apply to the legal bodies of the Autonomous Community and the Government of Spain to issue a report on the constitutionality of certain articles of the draft amendment of the statute of Castilla la Mancha.

All this motion, approved by PP and PSOE, forwarded to the Constitutional Committee of the Congress of Deputies, all the parliamentary groups of the Congress and Senate and the Government of Spain.
