The Plan 'Murcia was' retrieves the image of the patron saint of goldsmiths with a large altarpiece in the Four Corners (08/10/2008)

The project will be supervised by teachers Jesus Francisco Rivas Carmona and Manuel Pérez Sánchez, who have opted to place a replica of a magnificent eighteenth century engraving.

The engraving represents the pattern image, which was conducted by Francisco Salzillo for the Guild of Silversmiths and Smiths of the city of Murcia to 1749.

The site chosen for placement of the altarpiece, which could be installed before the end of the year, Silver Street, at its intersection with Tatters, exactly at the place known as the Four Corners.

The owners of the building, the company López Carrillo, have authorized their placement.

Those responsible for conducting the altarpiece ceramic artisans workshop will Lario, Lorca, experts in this type of work and a professional career.

The choice of blue respects the ancient tradition to label the streets with ceramic plates of this color.

Altarpiece placement coincides with the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of Art Studies at the University of Murcia.

A former union

San Eloy belongs to a generation of bishops humanist who fought for education and culture, in the seventh century.

St. Eloi was bishop of Noyon (France), according to legend, spent a little money to fuse two thrones.

For this reason he is venerated as the patron of Silversmiths.
