Schools climate change (07/10/2008)

With the goal of making schools in the city more environmentally friendly facilities, the Department of Education and crew, who heads Megía Pilar, in collaboration with the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change (ALEM) is carrying out a plan action to promote the rational use of energy in municipal buildings and facilities, for audits to be conducted in those buildings and detect weaknesses in terms of energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

The Department of Education and Staff of the City of Murcia, responsible for maintaining the centers and Primary Education in the municipality and the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change are working together to carry out energy audit in at least 14 buildings in order to make an inventory of the technical characteristics and condition of equipment and facilities.

We will start by the following schools:

CEIP Mariano Aroca (Murcia)

CEIP Narciso Yepes (Murcia)

CEIP Enrique Laborde (Dolores)

CEIP Antonio Díaz (The Garres)

CEIP El Molino (La Alberca)

The centers were selected because other prototype architectural schools in the municipality or by the peculiarity of the building as in CEIP Antonio Díaz (the claws) and Enrique CEIP Laborda (Dolores) formed two centers for several campuses.

On the other hand CEIPMariano Aroca (Murcia), Narciso Yepes CEIP (Murcia) and CEIP El Molino (La Alberca) are kind of different decades building, being built in the years 1961.1975 and 1980 respectively.

Of these the Department of Education and staff provide the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change, the information needed to initiate, planes, subways built, year built, number of students, data on electricity consumption gas and water.

The audit of a center comprises two phases, the first research with regard to consumption of the school collecting data to identify the core energy supply and energy sources used, in order to incorporate them into a database, to identify the situation of the municipality as opposed to a wider geographical landscape.

These data will form the basis of a subsequent plan of action for a better use of energy.

The second phase is data collection carried out an inventory of the technical characteristics and condition of equipment and facilities, measurement of illuminance levels and metering equipment that its relevance is considered appropriate.

The centers that will conduct the first phase of diagnosis:

CEIP Mariano Aroca (Murcia)

CEIP Antonio Díaz (The Garres)

CEIP Narciso Yepes (Murcia)

CEIP El Molino (La Alberca)

CEIP Enrique Laborde (Dolores)

The center which will also carry out the second stage of diagnosis is the CEIP Mariano Aroca (Murcia) and CEIP Antonio Díaz (The Garres).

Once analyzed and reviewed the results of the audits, will be optimized for the recruitment of electricity and other energy sources.
