Health encourages residents of the municipality to walk in groups 40 minutes for 4 days a week (01/10/2008)

The Department of Health and Social Services City of Murcia, who heads Fulgencio Cervantes, resumed the campaign 4 / 40 for residents of the municipality are encouraged to walk in groups led by guides, 40 minutes a day for 4 days a week.

The objective of this activity is to improve the health of the population and promote neighborly relations in an activity as economic and beneficial as walking regularly.

Performing regular exercise decreases the likelihood of cardiovascular disease, reduces hypertension, lowers cholesterol, obesity, overweight, increases flexibility and improves the bone-related diseases and diabetes.

Murcia's neighbors have welcomed the successful pilot held during the months of May and June which consisted of walking along the Malecon in group 40 minutes 4 days a week accompanied by instructors.

This activity will be consolidated and the different neighborhoods of Murcia and districts from next Monday, October 6.

With the goal to be the same neighbors who directed the participants in this activity, has organized a training course for volunteer monitors during the month of November.

With the training course is intended that this activity reaches all corners of the municipality by the hand of the neighbors, who will become non-professional volunteer monitors.

The monitors will learn to stimulate the activity.

The training course will be held on 3, 4, 6, 10 and 11 November at the Palais Almudí, 18 to 20 hours.

Will be taught by specialists in physical activity and sport and will have theoretical and practical sessions.

Participants will receive basic knowledge about health and exercise.

Residents wishing to participate in the training course to become a volunteer monitors may register at the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of the municipality.
