The Mayor is committed to maintaining the leading role in the budget funds intended to further despite the crisis (01/10/2008)

The City will maintain ownership of the consignments to major in next year's budget despite the current economic crisis.

At the same time, the City Council will continue to be demanding that the National Government compliance with the funding and the deadlines specified in the Dependency Act.

Currently there are 76 associations and social centers established in the municipality over: 12 of them in neighborhoods and 64 villages.

This extensive network, with over 30,000 members, is a reference for the elderly, who have throughout this year with 169 training, 200 training workshops and seminars and services such as physiotherapy and podiatry, running with 40 queries.

Encourage exercise, promote communication between people, promote creativity, expressiveness and imagination, and develop the artistic skills of the elderly are some of the objectives it seeks to achieve the Department of Social Welfare and Promoting Equality through These courses and activities.

Murcia City Council provides, through the Department of Social Welfare, a grant of 36,000 euros to the Federation of Senior Citizens Centres for program development activities in 2008.
