The Councillor for Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-Cacho, has offered this morning a press conference to report the allegations made by the city against the installation of a landfill near the hamlet of Zeneta.

The mayor explained that on 30 July published the location change in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante, going to want to build near Zeneta, and technicians of the council went to Alicante to review the cases for the allegations.

"If we had not started before the proceedings had given us no time in a month to make representations."

In total, twelve of the allegations made, among which are the following.

One argument for changing the location of the landfill has been "social reaction" of the neighbors at the first location Torremendo proposal.

According to the Law of Contracts alone can modify the project is that there is an unanticipated result, and the social reaction has been going on ten years ago.

"Considering the social reaction to the relocation of the treatment center's neighbors do not understand why Torremendo not considered Zeneta's neighbors."

Moreover, the location change has led to a breach of the principle of proximity and a facility of this nature must be close to population centers it serves.

In addition, the planned road network for trucks moving is not the same as in the beginning and now are the highways and roads that will be used Murcia.

Martínez-Cacho added that "the change of location affect the City of Murcia and a principle of loyalty between administrations, we should have been informed."

Has not been taken into account the unique wetland condition that exists in the municipality, the Boquera of Tabal, which could be affected by the construction of the landfill and waste management and is a very sensitive esconrrentía phenomena.

In addition, the joint venture contractor, formed by the companies Cespa and Ortiz, has not submitted the geological and hydrogeological studies, essential to a change of location.

The council asked that "why in June 2007 Consortium technicians considered unfit this new location and now, a year apart, they see themselves viable."
