The Mayor visits the land for future local police academy in Sangonera la Verde (31/07/2008)

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, this morning visited the land subject of the transfer to the Autonomous Region for the facilities of the future Regional Police School.

The lands are located in the Villa El Mayayo, with Sangonera la Verde, and allow students to improve their training and perform various practices and activities.

The construction of this new infrastructure would also be beneficial to the various bodies of the local police, whose members can access their facilities.

Miguel Ángel Cámara recalled that for the first time ever, the staff of the local police in Murcia exceed 700 soldiers this year, compared to 592 today.

The increase occurred in the Corps in recent years is unprecedented: from 1996 to the present, the Council has convened competition for access 5 times -1996, 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2007 - with a total of 405 seats.

The constant improvement of material and human resources available by the local police aims to continue promoting ever better service to citizens.

This objective is being achieved thanks to the investments made by the council, which only three annuities has spent 1.9 million euros for the renewal of the fleet, which currently consists of 279 -168 vehicles motorcycles, 74 cars , 26 vans, SUVs and 2 mopeds 9.

More services, more security

In this sense, the Mayor has taken the signing of the transfer of land for future Police College to underline its intention that the tasks of prevention and safety for all Murcia are entrenched.

Thus, recalled the establishment in recent years some services very well received by citizens, as has been the Police District, the Guardian Agent or the Panel on Public Safety, Special patrols in the area of the field and huerta de Murcia.

Another change noted by the Mayor that has occurred under his tenure has been the intensification of the decentralization of the police service, incorporating the new headquarters of the Fleet

and now, start building similar facilities in La Alberca and the El Esparragal to be increasing the presence of local police throughout the municipality.

Also, Miguel Angel House has referred to the coordination with the Security Forces of the State to promote greater security for all Murcia to enjoy our town.

In this regard, the Mayor pointed out the need for progress on the construction of new stations of the National Police - in the Barrio del Carmen, and Civil Guard barracks in the Green Sangonera and Campo de Murcia.
