The City Council undertakes direct cooperation with the implementation of two projects in the Alto in Bolivia and Ecuador (30/06/2008)

The Department of Prevention and Fire Fighting, Civil Defence and Development Cooperation, who heads Remigio Lopez, will perform a new initiative within the Department of Cooperation, and to undertake collaborative projects in developing countries, directly from the Town Hall .

This is the first time that the city of Murcia performs these actions, but because of the experience, more than 20 years, and successful cooperation actions are going to start working on two projects in Bolivia and Ecuador .

The Department of Cooperation is leading a study for the establishment of a School-Workshop on the Alto de Bolivia.

Since this is a vocational college, the style to which they are conducted in the municipality of Murcia, also count on the close collaboration of the Department of Employment.

For this project would provide for 100,000 euros, the performances begin next year and be completed in 2011.

The construction project of the School-Workshop has been sent to the Alto de Bolivia to fit your standards.

El Alto in Bolivia is one of the most underdeveloped countries, in fact ranked number 117 on the development index that annually produces the UN.

With the school-workshop aims to build the facility, while serve for the hire of rooms for the development of meetings, conventions, etc.

It will also have some production projects.

In this sense, it will make a special effort to train women in the work of masonry, as an example of political integration of women into the labor field.

Training in hospitality will be one of the sections that will be held in the School-Workshop.

The second direct cooperation project will carry out the Department for Development Cooperation is to build a school in Ecuador, in the canton of Santa Rosa, one of the most populated areas of the province of El Oro

Notably, in the municipality of Murcia is surveyed more than 2,000 people in this province, which means that the impact in that area is more than 8,000 family members, direct or indirect, of these people surveyed in Murcia.

The need for a school is urgent if we take into account the flooding earlier this year in Ecuador and are still causing disasters in those regions.
