The 'performer' Esther Ferrer artist will teach a workshop at the Laboratorio de Arte Joven (28/06/2008)

The author Esther Ferrer (San Sebastián, 1937) will give an artist's studio on Young Art Laboratory (LAB) to Murcia from 30 June to 4 July.

Focused on performance and action art, areas in which Ferrer is a reference to the contemporary scene both nationally and internationally, the course is eminently practical.

The performance can not be taught, practiced and discipline that arise practice and theory that each use in accordance with their interests, so that the system will take place in the workshop will implement different measures for each participant and then analyze and carry out the collection of findings.

Esther Ferrer has been active since the 60's, doing their work individually or in the collective ZAJ, dissolved in 1996, the year in the National Museum Reina Sofia Art Center dedicated a retrospective exhibition of his work.

In its first phase this group faced the Franco authorities and a public unfamiliar with the attitudes of young radicals who began to experiment with visual poetry, mail art, happenings, performances and artists' books.

In the early 60's created with the painter José Antonio Sistiaga, the first Workshop on Free Expression, the beginning of many activities, including the creation of a Charter School in Elorrio (Vizcaya).

From the mid-70's, Foster began a new phase of artistic creation worked with photographs, installations, paintings based on the number of prime numbers, objects, etc.

In his long career as a performance artist, has been part of festivals in Spain and abroad (Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Denmark, Norway, England, Holland, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, United States U.S., Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Thailand, Japan and Korea, among others).

He exhibits his work in galleries and museums.

In 1999 he was selected among other artists to represent Spain at the Venice Biennale.

In addition, Ferrer, a graduate in Social Sciences and Journalism, has published articles in the media as El País, Pencil, Janus and was and made radio plays for Spain's National Radio.
