Eight vie for prize guitar flamenco guitar 'Niño Ricardo' (24/06/2008)

The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, this morning the third edition of the International Guitar Competition 'Niño Ricardo' to be held in the courtyard of the Museum of Fine Arts (Mubam) the next 2 and 3 July and with the participation of five national and three international guitarists selected by the panel of judges.

Ujaldón, who was accompanied during the presentation by the coordinator Carlos Piñana, stressed "the importance of these contests for young guitarists as they encourage and give prestige to follow."

The jury is composed by Felix Grande, Gerardo Nuñez, Victor Monje (Serranito) and Chema Vilchez, coming from the jazz guitarist.

All teachers of "prestige" as noted Carlos Piñana noting that "reward the creativity of performers as well as the virtuosity that they all possess."

He also highlighted the healthy and the young participants aged between 16 and 27 years and distinguished by their classically trained flamenco environments.

The competition is worth 5,000 euros first prize and sculpture 'Sonata' by Ángel Haro, and flamenco guitar $ 1,000 for second prize and special prize of 2,500 euros for participants from other nationalities; award, this one, which makes the is the only contest which rewards international guitarists, with three that are competing this year from Mexico, Chile and Japan.

The festival will this year with two flamenco galas by 'Crumbs', acting on 2 July.

This is a group of four women from very different backgrounds, blending guitar, violin, accordion and flamenco cajón offering a classic with their own arrangements.

At the gala on July 3 act the singer José 'El Francés'.

Master class

New to this third edition of the competition, guitarist Gerardo Nuñez will give a lecture titled 'Technical and touches of flamenco guitar. "

Guitarists will be open to a maximum of 15 students from intermediate to advanced, interested in deepening knowledge of flamenco guitar.

The lecture will take place at the conclusion of the contest in the morning.

The registration period is open until this Friday, June 27.

The artists participating in the competition are Raul Manola (Córdoba), Francisco León (Cádiz), Alejandro Hurtado (Alicante), Manuel Montero (Sevilla) and Antonio Rey Navas (Spain).

The international group is composed of Jin Oki (Japan), Misael Barraza (Mexico), Andrés Hernández (Chile).
