International experts in Murcia discuss the future of biofuels (10/06/2008)

The international experts have been participating for two years in the European project brings together BioNETT from Murcia tomorrow to discuss the current situation of biofuels and the future potential of these fuels are less polluting.

On this occasion, the Minister of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning, Benito Mercader, today signed an agreement with the president of the Territorial Council and the regional director of Caja Mediterráneo, Angel Martinez and Ildefonso Riquelme, respectively, for the celebration of the Week Biofuels International Education Center Environmental Caja Mediterráneo (CEMACAM) Torre Guil.

Benito Mercader Councilor stressed "the importance of projects like BioNETT, working to find alternatives to oil that are more environmentally friendly.

This conference will serve to end the work of BioNETT Project partners, among which is the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Planning, represented by the Energy Management Agency of the Region of Murcia (Argema).

They have also been part of this Project Advisory Center of the Northeast Energy Efficiency of London, the Regional Energy Agency of Central Macedonia (Greece), the Energy Agency of the Municipality of Rousse (Bulgaria), Energy Agency southwest Sweden, the Agency for Energy Conservation in the Baltic (Poland), Tipperary Energy Agency (Ireland), School of Management of Riga (Latvia), the Agency Severn Wye Energy (UK), and Italiano Thermotechnical Commissioner.

This project is funded by the European Commission through the Intelligent Energy Europe initiative.

International Week will host the last meeting of these agencies to submit their conclusions.

In this sense, there will be two sessions, one dedicated to 'The biofuels in transport', which permit the filing of the Saras project in Cartagena, as well as experiences that are being developed with city buses, as well as research on crops energy that is making the IMIDA.

The other day aims to take a tour of international experiences undertaken in the framework of the BioNETT.

This conference will also feature the participation of the Association of Renewable Energy Producers and assistance to them is free upon registration.

Benito Mercader recalled that "the aim of BioNETT Project was to develop a support network to encourage the growth of local markets for biofuels and low carbon fuels.

In the case of the Region of Murcia, is developing a project for using biodiesel in city buses in Cartagena and Murcia. "

We must also bear in mind that a European directive requires EU countries to 10 percent of transportation fuels be biofuels by 2020.

In addition, it will ensure that this energy meets strict environmental requirements, in particular, biofuels must certify a reduction over the life cycle of at least 35 percent of their emissions of greenhouse gases compared to oil.
