The Department of Traffic has today launched a special monitoring device in response to the demands of the taxi drivers in Murcia, which have reported the existence of illegal taxi services.
As expressed by the complaint of professional taxi, there are groups of people, mostly foreigners, who may be engaging without authorization to conduct this activity in the vicinity of train and bus station.
Since public transport without a permit is regulated and prohibited by current legislation, the Law on Land Transport Management, "the Councillor of Traffic, Nuria Fuentes, has instructed the Chief of Local Police to establish a control and monitoring device for detecting and correcting, if necessary, this activity.
This device is for an intensive four policemen in the morning and four in the afternoon every day of the week, both uniformed and plainclothes, and will, if necessary, with the support of the Panel of Public Safety.
The officers will focus their attention, especially in areas characterized by the concentration of public transport and therefore potential customers for such travelers "illegal taxis."
