71,000 students from schools in the county have participated in the program this year, reaching a record turnout

Municipal Campaign School Sports has hit an absolute record of participation in 2007/2008.

The program has hosted a total of 133 secondary schools, public and subsidized schools, special education schools and other associations.

More than 3,000 students of 33 schools awarded this course have this morning attended the closing ceremony of the program was held at the Prince of Asturias flag.

The celebration of school sport will be continued in the afternoon, when the municipal school students participate in a basketball clinic next to the Spanish player in the NBA.

71,000 students competing

The total number of students involved has been 70,579, with 35% female participation.

Students from three special schools have competed in 30 sporting events.

The cross is still one of the most successful events, since he had the inscription of 57 schools and a total of 2,369 students.

Also drawing and painting competition has had a great turnout.

It has awarded 15 drawings from among the 1,200 works submitted from 21 schools registered.

Moreover, in this phase municipal course racing has been a success as 40 teams from different categories have been classified to access the regional stage.

It also sports and recreational campaign has been widely accepted and it has developed activities such as skiing, hiking, swimming with fins, guidance, canoeing, golf and water sports.

All this campaign is complemented by the wide range of sports schools aimed at students aged between 5 and 17 years, thanks to which 4,100 students have learned different sports such as football, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, judo, athletics, handball, tennis, volleyball, fencing, billiards, table tennis, badminton, figure skating, roller hockey, field hockey, wrestling, karate, taekwondo, etc.
