The City adjusts its drought plan with the guidelines established by the Ministry of Environment (09/04/2008)

The Governing Board gave the green light to plan for drought emergency in the municipality of Murcia, adapted to the Special Plan to drought conditions in the Segura basin approved in 2007.

The National Hydrological Plan Act (2001) stated in Article 27 the basis of planned management of drought, so for the Environment Ministry approval of the special plans of action in alert situations and eventual drought- basins.

The special plan of action in situations of alert adopted in 2007 states that the emergency plan Murcia-approved in 2006 - has to adapt to the criteria established by the ministry, so that its contents remain unchanged, although adjustments are made formal.

The adaptation consisted of a complete overhaul, in order to provide development to the previous document that corresponds to a unified and homogeneous, so that the identification of risk, failure or inability of systems to provide all urban demands, are consistent and meet the same principles and criteria.

Therefore, adaptation is formal, not content, so as to maintain unchanged the status indicators, the promulgation of these by the Segura River Basin Authority and the Commonwealth Taibilla Channel, State scenarios of drought, actions plans and internal management bodies.
