An energy audit analyzes the Municipality of Murcia and the City Council (15/04/2008)

Murcia City Council has submitted the specification to the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change Murcia (ALEM) has tendered through the hiring of two studies that will determine the energy situation in the municipality of Murcia and agencies like the City Council.

The first will estimate the consumption in the municipality of Murcia and consumer sectors - such as buildings, transport and industry - energy sources and the purpose for which this energy is used (heat, cold, lighting , etc.).

In addition, the Energy Assessment will serve to define the main priorities of the Municipal Energy Plan and prepare an inventory of emissions of greenhouse gases.

The Plan seeks to reduce energy consumption, increase use of renewable energy sources and reduce emissions of such greenhouse gases in the municipality of Murcia.

Within this context, as an example of Good Practices, an energy audit of City facilities that will analyze a minimum of 10 units of the same, beginning with the Glorieta of Spain, the Annex Building at the Town Hall (Building Moneo ), the Planning Department, and the Palace Almudí including fifty-four to assess its use and the status and conditions of use of its facilities.

This procurement is to optimize the municipal power by conservation measures and use of renewable energy sources.

These works are expected to be completed in six months.

The main conclusions of these two studies will form the basis and starting point for the Local Energy Action Plan, which the city of Murcia in the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change expects to implement over the next three years.
