Former black marble wall Rowing Club beautify the garden of the Museum of the City (30/05/2008)

The old black marble wall that for decades graced the Rowing Club facilities gone back to look in all its splendor for the enjoyment of Murcia.

The piece, which was removed from the building when he fell down, will adorn the garden of the Museum of the City in the coming months.

The construction of the Gateway Manterola precipitated the demolition of the Rowing Club in February 1997.

Since then it has been stored in various municipal departments, in perfect condition, but the technicians concluded that it was necessary for restoration.

The work, whose dimensions are two feet six feet, is attributed to Carpe Hernández, Hernández Cano and Serafin Alonso, according to the authors, and symbolizes two swimmers on the river Segura.

The Mayor extended in this way the program was Murcia, a city initiative that will regain a prominent part of the past of the city of Murcia.

The initiative has enabled the recovery of important works such as sculpture, Children Playing, Seiquer Elisa, already located in the garden of the Three Cups, The Fame, Gonzalez Moreno, and placed before the Government Office, the popular Lion Malecon to be restored in the Restoration Centre of the Autonomous Community, the windows of the former Rowing Club, the work of Muñoz Barberán, that will be placed in a newly built library, the recovery of morning coats during the official procession of the Holy Sepulchre or signing of a cooperation agreement with 800 booksellers from around the world for the recovery of works printed or written in Murcia between the thirteenth and nineteenth centuries.
