They have already started the paperwork to the development of the Bicycle Master Plan.

The City Council has given the green light to the specifications for the procurement of the necessary work for the drafting of this plan, in order to establish the necessary policies to promote cycling in the municipality as a regular means of transport.

The investment amounts to 100,000 euros.

The aim with this project is:

-Encouraging sustainable mobility models.

-Build a network of cycling trails routes efficiently, consistently and safely.

-Promote use of bicycles as a means of transport in movement patterns.

-To facilitate public access to the bike (bike rental / public bicycle parking).

-Ensure the safety of bicycle users and pedestrians.

-Promote intermodality of public transport, cycling and pedestrians.

-Prepare proposals for the integration of bicycle spaces for future urban developments.

-Educate and train the cyclists and other road users for proper use and safety.

The Master Plan shall contain a detailed analysis of urban road in its entirety, a review of current mobility, an analysis of the possibilities of converting sections of urban road cycling trails in the process and analysis of current demand and future population the bike.

Based on the results of this study, the contractor will design the layout of a network of cycle tracks for the township roads that run through areas that respond to user demand.

Special attention will define strategies for its introduction in the historic center of Murcia.

The network will also facilitate access to major recreational areas of population and specifically to the banks of the River Segura and the Regional Park Carrascoy-El Valle Coto Cuadros.

The design of this network will have to establish the means necessary to travel cycling trails within the town of Murcia and each of the 54 districts of the municipality and which connect the town of Murcia city with the population centers of the districts located in the portion of the municipal territory situated between Javalí New Sangonera Sangonera the Green and the Dry up Zeneta, Stables, El Raal and Cobatillas.

For this, first consider the possibility of using the existing road (road or rail from the garden) and complementary pathways that may accompany cyclable future road infrastructure development plans and developments.

In this network of bicycle parking facilities will be integrated, at least the following locations: Plaza Fontes (Regional Film Library), School of Drama, Juan Carlos I (Zigzag Leisure Centre), San Andrés (Bus Station and in front of the center Mental Health San Andreas), Renfe station, Barriomar (Foreign Office), Infante Juan Manuel (Center for Health and Sports Center), San Esteban Environment, Hospital Reina Sofia, Hospital Morales Meseguer, Plaza de Santa Catalina, Plaza Santo Domingo, Plaza Santa Eulalia, Plaza Raimundo González Frutos, Plaza de Europa, Sardoy Plaza, Plaza Beato Andrés Hibernón, Fleet (Health Center), Avenida Teniente Flomesta (Ministry of Finance), Artillery Barracks (Centro Parraga, Institute Carmen Carmen and Library), Auditorium and Yesqueros Street.

In addition, you must create an Office of the bicycle which shall track the plan and manage campaigns to promote awareness and use of this mode of transport.

The winning company must establish a schedule which will reflect all the actions necessary for the execution of different jobs within a maximum of four years.
