Readings, lectures and screenings to celebrate World Book Day on Bacons Bridge (22/04/2008)

Senior Social Center in the hamlet of Bacons Bridge will celebrate tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23 World Book Day by holding a series of activities.

This initiative is part of the Reading Club Senior Social Center, which has been operating since last October 2007, with a participation of 18 people, which is coordinated and facilitated by two young students of Social Education at the University of Murcia and promoted by the Department of Social Welfare and Equality Policies and Citizenship of the City of Murcia, who heads María del Carmen Pelegrin.

In the various planned activities involving the largest in the center, and other members of adult education, of the literary gathering (to be held in the Municipal Library of Bacons Bridge).

Activities begin at 16:30 pm, reading by participants in a series of selected works, such as:

"Marianela, Benito Perez Galdos

"Grandfather" of Benito Perez Galdos

"Come back tomorrow and other items," Mariano José de Larra

"Reeds and Mud", by Vicente Blasco Ibanez

"Moroccan Letters.

Mournful Nights "by José Gallows

"Gypsy Ballads" by Federico García Lorca

"Journey to the Alcarria" Camilo José Cela

"Concerns" by Shanti Andia de Pío Baroja

"The curtains" by Carmen Martin Gaite

"The Will" by Azorín

Then there will be a poetry reading from various participants.

Then there will be a lecture, given by the Cultural Association of Teachers of Murcia (ACDOMUR), dealing with the value of reading.

There will also be a screening of a documentary DVD sobe World Book Day.

Then proceed to a reading of several excerpts from "Don Quixote" and a play connected with World Book Day, conducted by a student at the School of Dramatic Art.

Finally, about 20:00 pm and offer a snack and a gift by the Senior Center to all participants.

In addition to the Reading Club Senior Center Bacons Bridge there are other clubs, which are operated some five years ago, Senior Centers in the neighborhoods of Fleet, San Anton, Vistalegre, San Antolin -San Andrés, or Juan Manuel Infante, all of the city of Murcia, thus becoming another reading activity rewarding and rich in many senior centers, and many of the largest in the municipality of Murcia.
