The government team will propose tomorrow that the House signing of the Aalborg +10 commitment City, which seeks to guide public management for sustainability in the coming years.

Murcia City Council in 1998 acceded to the Charter of Aalborg, carrying out actions in terms of sustainability in accordance with it.

He was also invited to the Conference Aalborg + 10, presenting a contribution on sustainable municipal water management.

Now, joining the Aalborg +10 commitments will achieve various actions related to governance, local governance towards sustainability, the common natural resources, consumption and responsible choices about lifestyle, design and planning, improving urban mobility, local action on health, sustainable local economy, equity and social justice and local to global.

Governance: It will promote participatory democracy in the process of local decision making, according to the following:

Promote the development of a long-term shared vision on sustainable cities and towns,

Based participation and sustainable development capacity in government and local community and invite all sectors of society to participate de facto in the decision making process.

Making decisions participatory, accountable and transparent.

Effectively cooperate with neighboring municipalities, other cities and villages and to other levels of government.

Local management towards sustainability, this commitment based on the implementation of effective management principles:

Strengthen Local Agenda 21 or other local sustainability processes to make them a vital artery of local government.

Implement a management towards sustainability based on the precautionary principle and taking into account the guidelines for future European Strategy for Urban Environment.

Set goals and deadlines under the Aalborg Commitments and evaluate the results achieved.

Ensure that sustainability is a backbone of the process of urban decision-making and resource allocation based on sustainability criteria.

Cooperate with the European Campaign for Sustainable Cities and Towns and their network to assess our progress towards achieving the objectives.

Common Resources: The City agrees to take responsibility in protecting, preserving and ensuring equitable access to common natural resources.

Reducing primary energy consumption and increase renewable energy.

Improve water quality and more efficient.

Promote and increase biodiversity as well as extend and care for protected natural areas and green areas.

Improve soil quality, preserve ecologically productive land and promote sustainable agriculture and forestry.

Improve air quality.

Responsible Consumption and Lifestyle Choices on: We take measures that promote the prudent and efficient use of resources and encourage sustainable consumption and production:

Reduce and help prevent irresponsible consumption and increasing recycling and reuse.

Manage and treat the waste according to standards of best practice.

Avoid unnecessary energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Make sustainable procurement.

Actively promote sustainable production and consumption, particularly for eco-labeled products, organic and fair trade.

Design and Planning: We will take account of urban planning in the design of the basic lines in both the environmental, social, economic, cultural and health for the benefit of all.

Regenerate degraded areas and depressed.

Avoid unstructured urban development, achieving appropriate densities and prioritizing the regeneration of urbanized areas on the development of new areas.

Ensure combined use of buildings with a necessary balance between work, private homes and services, giving priority to residential uses in central cities.

Ensure the conservation, restoration and enhancement of urban cultural heritage.

Promote the transition to lower vehicle emissions.

Develop plans for integrated and sustainable urban mobility.

Reduce the impact of transport on the environment and public health.

Local Action on Health, will work to protect and promote health and welfare of our citizens:

Growing awareness and action on the determinants of health in a broad sense, many of which are beyond the health sector.

Plans to promote healthy development of cities, that mean for our cities, the consolidation of health awareness.

Reducing health inequalities and marginalization, which will require ongoing evaluation of our progress.

Promote the appreciation of the positive impacts as a means for all sectors to focus their efforts in the field of health and quality of life.

Encourage developers and urban planners to integrate health criteria in their development strategies.

Thriving and sustainable local economy: the City is committed to the creation and consolidation of a vibrant local economy that allows access to employment without damaging the environment:

Take measures to encourage and support local employment and entrepreneurship.

Cooperate with local private initiatives for the promotion and establishment of good corporate practice.

Develop and implement sustainability principles into the location and business development.

Encourage high quality local markets and regional integration.

Promote sustainable local tourism.

Equity and Social Justice: develop measures to create an inclusive city and solidarity:

Develop and implement programs that prevent and alleviate poverty.

Ensuring equitable access to public services, education, employment opportunities, training and cultural activities.

Promote social inclusion and ensuring equal rights and opportunities.

Improve community safety.

Ensure housing and living conditions of quality and socially integrated.

From Local to Global: The search for peace, justice, equality, sustainable development and environmental protection.

Develop and follow an integrated strategy to mitigate climate change and achieve sustainable levels of emissions.

Integrate climate protection policy in the areas of energy, transport, trade, waste, agriculture and forestry.

Activate awareness about the causes and possible consequences of climate change and integrate preventive actions to this end.

Reduce impacts on the environment and promote the principle of environmental equity.

Strengthen international cooperation between towns and cities and generate local responses to global problems in partnership with governments, communities and other actors.
