The city council acts directly with the poorest countries (27/05/2008)

Carry out actions of direct cooperation with the poorest countries is the initiative that will take the city of Murcia, through the Department for Prevention and Fire Fighting, Civil Protection and Development Cooperation, who heads Remigio López.

This morning he held the meeting of the Council for Cooperation and Solidarity, comprising a total of 18 members and chaired by Councillor Remigio López.

This morning he noticed the new bases for the call for subsidies for development cooperation projects in 2008.

Restructuring of the financial contribution that is intended to Cooperation, and to be allocated 351,000 euros to support projects of NGOs, leaving an important part in carrying out actions of the City Council direct cooperation with poorer countries.

This restructuring is an initiative of the City of Murcia because of the experience that has the local administration at different levels of performance.

Have also changed the evaluation criteria,

aims to promote gender equality.

This addition is the result of the new Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, sponsored by the Department of Social Welfare and Equal Opportunities Policy, which directs Maria del Carmen Pelegrin.

Educational projects for development and awareness is also one of the requirements will get a higher score on the grant.
