Murcia's change requires the removal of sexist advertising in the street (25/01/2016)

Councilwoman Margarita Guerrero Murcia's change will raise in Parliament next Thursday a motion to amend the ordinance regulating outdoor advertising in order to eliminate sexist advertising on public roads in the municipality.

Through this initiative, Guerrero proposes to include in the local rules criteria Observatory image of women to determine sexism in advertising and, among others, mentions the use of the female body as a lure or sexual object.

The training municipalist wants to strengthen legislation against such ads, already nationally recognized as illegal advertising that it presents "so humiliating women, particularly well used and directly your body and its parts as mere object unrelated to the product to be promoting, but its image associated with stereotyped behaviors that violate the foundations of our legal system. "

For Guerrero, you need more control over the City Publicity on the fences as a way to prevent racist, xenophobic, homophobic or any other kind of discrimination that goes against the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution contained.

"The sexist advertising perpetuates gender roles assigned, where women are often treated as an object, hence the work of public institutions is essential in this fight," he argued.

The mayor has proposed the government team to eliminate sexist ads removed while the 300 hurdles lacking authorization in the municipality as part of an initiative by the City and the Associations of Advertising of Murcia.
