Murcia knows the keys to designing energy policies (23/01/2016)

Streets where the pedestrian is the protagonist, clean energy transport, vehicle sharing and conclusions of the second workshops of the European Project 'Roadmaps for energy'.

Participation groups have raised smart city platform to manage the full operation of all municipal buildings and services, ensuring that users derive maximum comfort using minimal resources

Murcia continues to work on improving energy efficiency.

To do this, this week, two European experts in Planning, Strategy and Innovation at the University of Eindhoven have participated in the second workshops of the European Project 'Roadmaps for energy, roadmaps for energy', in which they have shared with municipal technical guidelines to follow to design energy policies.

This project aims to help establish and plan the strategy of Murcia in the medium and long term counting on the contribution of actors and stakeholders within the municipality in intelligent buildings and smart mobility.

In these sessions work has been supported and assisted by councilors Jose Guillen, Modernization of the Administration, Urban Quality and Participation;

Lola Sanchez, Traffic, Security and Civil Protection, and Roque Ortiz, Development.

In addition, we have collected the proposals and ideas of different technical and municipal specialists in the fields of mobility and buildings and private companies, universities, professional associations, organizations and bodies of Murcia with proven experience in the areas of work mentioned.

The workshops have been coordinated by the Local Energy Agency (GER) and two experts in Smart City strategies of the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands) also a graphic illustrator at the university and a specialist in smart urban environments, which has created a digital display of what should be the city of Murcia in 2050 in response to the proposals and requirements that the participants have been contributing.

Among the ideas that the groups have raised to Murcia should include in relation to mobility include the following:

• The streets will feature the citizen and not the private vehicle, and be safe, green, free of noise and pollution, where they coexist in harmony pedestrian, cyclist, and other modes of mobility spaces.

• A comprehensive management platform mobility will be responsible for collecting all the data of a city and a fleet of vehicles that will sensorized to optimize and manage intelligently and in real time all events of mobility in the city.

• The citizen can enjoy a la carte mobility, there will be intelligent mobility services tailored to the specific needs of each individual and a very affordable cost which transport modes used only clean energy created from renewable sources.

• Public transport and car sharing will have a leading role by minimizing the use of individual vehicles.

Similarly, with regard to buildings, it is noteworthy that the idea tends to be that smart city platform to manage the full operation of all municipal buildings and services, ensuring that users derive maximum comfort using minimal resources .

Here are other ideas and requirements listed buildings of Murcia in 2050 must meet:

• Intelligent buildings will share data and resources to optimize energy management

• The buildings will be constructed with innovative materials in addition to its constructive role have other uses: reducing allergens, dirt repellent, generators, recyclable materials.

• Both existing buildings (historical) and new, design their interiors for flexible use, and can even reduce or increase the area of ​​the windows depending on external conditions.

• The buildings accord to its users and to adjust to your comfort needs, while being able to react and adapt to curb the effects of natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods.

• teleworking and facilities for reconciling work and family life, giving buildings recreation areas that promote teamworking will be encouraged.

• The buildings utilize renewable energy, minimizing their consumption by using bioclimatic architecture criteria

Both municipal staff and participants in this second workshop, have expressed their satisfaction with the ideas and results and have valued highly original and innovative work methodology followed in these workshops, which promotes the sharing of ideas, the debate and social participation.
