The City Council and the University of Murcia today signed the deed with which concludes the procedure of transfer of a plot of 18,000 m2 to extend the Campus of Health Sciences in El Palmar.
The step taken this morning completes the process that began last summer, when the Mayor, José Ballesta, and the Rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, signed the framework agreement laying the foundations of what will be the third campus of the educational institution, located on the campus of the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, adding to the existing de la Merced and Espinardo.
In recent months it has completed the corresponding processing, fulfilling the public exhibition period of the reversal of the plot, which ended without recording any allegations, and transferred the file to the regional administration, which gave a favorable opinion allowing formalization the transfer by signing the deed before a notary.
The extension of the Health Campus is one of the most emblematic projects of those infrastructures promotes University, which has already built Biomedical Experimentation Center (CEIB), the departmental building space and building biomedical research laboratories (LAIB ).
Now ceded land whose rateable value amounts to 7.084 million euros, in addition to the existing plot on the campus of Health Sciences, about 48,000 m2, which already routinely work several hundred researchers and teachers.
Its development will help to convert this space into one of the most important health resorts of the country.
Make this goal a reality is also a priority for the municipality, therefore, the Mayor, José Ballesta, has reiterated the willingness to collaborate with the University for the implementation of infrastructure, access and all the necessary elements for converting the "Campus of Health a core of educational, teaching, research and healthcare for the city of Murcia."
