Councilwoman Margarita Guerrero's change has filed a motion in Parliament this month to ask the City Council to declare Murcia free municipality of circuses with animals and municipal regulations prohibiting the holding of such events.
The municipalist training, working from its beginnings in the defense of animals through one of its sectoral groups, has collected in its initiative proposals that have moved him the Animalist Group Murcia (GARM) to ensure respect to animals.
Guerrero explained that with this motion the City has the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment in favor of another model of fun that does not involve animal suffering and promote with full guarantees ethical, social and environmental principles.
He recalled that there is a regional regulation which is contrary to the use of animals in performances involving cruelty or mistreatment, and that a total of 219 Spanish municipalities have already positioned against animal circuses.
The councilor has asked the government team to act coherently and not reject this motion as he did to change the Murcia presented last September, by proposing measures to improve the conditions of zoonoses center of Murcia.
He has also criticized the Bureau of Animal Welfare City Council has met only once in three months, which has prevented the start of work to meet the real purpose of this table.
