The UCAM power FITUR tourism in the region through sport and gastronomy (18/01/2016)

Wednesday arroparán six Olympic Sports presentation, and Thursday chefs Pablo González-Conejero and Tino Helguera make a culinary exaltation of the Mar Menor

The UCAM will feature prominently at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) promoting tourism in the Region of Murcia with its commitment to sport and gastronomy.

On Wednesday January 20, Olympians UCAM Miguel Angel Lopez, Ruth Beitia, Brigitte Yagüe, Joel Gonzalez, Thais Henriquez and David Cal will be present at the booth of the region to show how through sport, the Catholic University It has become a key part of tourism for the region.

The organization of the University Championships in Spain, which attract some 2,000 athletes each year, collaboration with sports events such as the UCAM Falco Trail or Route of the Strengths, receiving hundreds of participants from all over Spain and various countries in Europe, and enhancing the brand 'Murcia' through basketball and football teams and Olympians are just some examples of the work of the UCAM to promote tourism in the region through sports.

Thousands of overnight stays

Directly, thanks to the championships organized by the UCAM, more than 3,500 overnight stays were made in hotels in the region, a figure that reaches 10,000 if we add tests with the collaboration of the university.

In addition, food is also playing an increasingly important role in the university and therefore on Thursday 21 UCAM take two guests from the Advisory Council of Degree of the University of Gastronomy, such as master chocolatier Tino Helguera, and Chef Pablo González-Conejero, owner of Restaurant La Cabana Finca Buenavista, which has a Michelin star and 3 Repsol Suns.

Between the two, and accompanied by Pablo Gómez, chef and grade teacher, along with five students of Gastronomy, it will be a reproduction of the Mar Menor on a tray of food steel, cold working on a kitchen table and using various types of food and sauces.

Interior del Mar Menor will pay off, as salted meats, fish and seafood.

On the other hand, the sweet part will come as a chocolate sculpture, to be finished in time to be enjoyed after the intervention of Pedro Antonio Sánchez, president of the Region of Murcia, which is that day in FITUR.

In addition, students of Tourism UCAM will not miss the opportunity to attend the fair.

Saturday 23 will travel to Madrid a group of 65 students, both degree in tourism and international students of the Master in Innovation and Tourism Marketing English (Innovation and Tourism Marketing).

The International Tourism Fair IFEMA is one of the largest in the world and hosts thousands of tourism professionals each year.

For the Region of Murcia, tourism is a major engine for development and therefore will as always a strong presence at the show.
