The "crime of the katana", made in 2000 for less than killed his parents and sister, was a turning point in the treatment of crimes in the regional press, as stated in a doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Demelza Maria Molina Vicente.
The findings of this research, which has been rated as outstanding cum laude, said that from the time a new approach to information created killings "and marked the beginning of an information paradigm."
For the realization of this thesis, the author analyzed information on crimes published by the newspaper La Opinion and Truth between 1990 and 2014, a period in which 364 murders were recorded.
The study's conclusions state that "in Murcia, LA noir has been growing and gaining importance, growth has not been matched by increases and decreases in crime for 25 years."

The dissertation was directed by Professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona Maria Corominas Piulats and professor at the University of Murcia Maria Marta Roel Neighbor.
