Murcia's change Councilwoman Margarita Guerrero has asked the City Council to urge the regional government to establish agreements with food companies that can transform surplus vegetables that will be recalled in preserves or jam to be allocated to food banks.
Guerrero passes the proposal because the mayor, José Ballesta, to meet with the Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, in order to put this initiative will affect up vegetables not marketed as a result of overproduction caused by high temperatures.
The mayor pointed out that there are agreements to transform the surplus fruit juices which are intended for food banks, and has requested that this initiative be extended to other products of the agricultural sector to give them out at the same time meet the needs social face of rising poverty in the region.
"It is an obligation of the públicastrabajar to find imaginative solutions and administrations meet social demand," stressed Guerrero, who in addition to food banks has been cited as potential host school canteens, thus facilitating that can be opened in summer.
