Let's change request removal of billboards around El Malecon (11/01/2016)

Murcia Councilman's change Nacho Tornel has asked the City Council to remove the posters and billboards installed in the vicinity of El Malecon and so fulfill the law that prevents advertising in the cultural assets of the municipality.

Tornel recalled that the promenade of El Malecon is listed as a historic monument since 1982 and therefore is subject to both the Outdoor Advertising Ordinance Regulating of Murcia as the Regional Cultural Heritage Act.

According to the latter, in the real estate of cultural interest it can not be installed fixed advertising by billboards or posters, cables, antennas and anything that impedes and undermines the appreciation of the property, while the signs "must be harmonious with good".

The Ordinance also generally prohibits commercial advertising on the assets declared of cultural interest and their environment protection.

However, the existence of these rules "appears to have no effect" on the promenade, where "you can find an invasion of posters and billboards, as well as being illegal, degrading the landscape and the monument itself."

For us change Murcia, this situation is a result of "neglect and lack of supervision" of administrations whose objective should be to ensure the preservation of this environment, and has therefore asked the Department of Planning, Environment and withdraw Huerta urgently advertising.

In addition, the training municipalist has claimed that the owners of the land where billboards are installed to withdraw them or, otherwise, you do the consistory itself a subsidiary way "to communicate.

"The good preservation of our monuments and urban landscape and garden must be a priority," he argued Tornel.
