Murcia's change requests Ballesta to end irregularities in the environment Los Jeronimos (08/01/2016)

Murcia Councilman Nacho Tornel's change today called the mayor, José Ballesta, to order the cessation of development works in the vicinity of Los Jeronimos and inform local groups on the disciplinary procedure initiated by the Directorate General of Cultural Property to Following the demolition of the listed building known as The Corralazo, by the San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM).

Tornel recalled that in 2007 the City Council gave free private center that 135,000 square meters of public land located on a plot next to the Jeronimos monastery, and in 2009 the House, with the favorable votes of the PP, approved the Special Plan for that space, "where the UCAM plans to build many facilities".

Within this area was the Corralazo, protected by the General Plan building that was demolished in 2011 in contravention of the terms of performance referred to in the corresponding tab of the General Plan, and in whose facade had a heraldic shield, listed a Cultural (BIC), which was moved some years ago to Souk tower without the permission of the Ministry of Culture.

To this, the mayor added that the general direction issued an order in 2011 for which the land became part of the environment protection of Los Jeronimos Monastery, so that any action should be authorized, "being in suspense, where appropriate, the effects of licenses already granted, as well as the ban on granting new planning permission. "

It has also recalled that "both the demolition of the Corralazo as earthworks were reported to senior management, but the disciplinary proceedings has remained in a drawer until, perhaps for fear of investigation by the Prosecutor in November 2015 the procedure was resolved and an agreement with precautionary measures to review and adapt the Special Plan to environment protection were adopted. "

The training does not understand how the City Council gave "a lot of public land" to an institution that toppled a building that was part of the heritage of the town and has made movement of thousands of tons of earth with reported associations and neighbors in an environment of cultural interest following a plan that was not adapted, without the authorization of the region.

He therefore urged Ballesta to freeze all development works carried out in that environment, clarify doubts about these actions of the UCAM and the "inactivity" of the City, and inform the groups represented in City Council about the measures taken by senior management.
