Murcia City Council will develop a municipal ordinance for the incorporation of social clauses in public procurement (07/01/2016)

The councilman of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, met this morning with representatives of the political groups of the Municipal Corporation to address the promotion of social clauses in public procurement, and has taken the unanimous interest of all participants in developing a Ordinance to determine the terms and conditions on which are to be incorporated, "under the law and respecting free competition, objectivity and non-discrimination".

To do so, it has agreed to create a committee, composed of experts from the departments involved the City of Murcia, to review the measures already being developed and promoted new ones, according to criteria such as respect for the environment, improved employment, gender equality and the inclusion of disadvantaged groups.

In this sense, the councilor explained that it has already been paid by the City Council to include social clauses in certain specifications, in the award procedure or implementation, and the goal is to "continue in this line, sustainable and inclusive growth in the municipality of Murcia, favoring the insertion processes of the underprivileged, in coordination with the third sector, who work every day in this area. "

Finally, Ruiz explained that the city of Murcia keeps a record of coordination and cooperation with third sector organizations to further the process of integration of disadvantaged groups with satisfactory results.

"The various training programs and develop employability and must be completed with positive action to ensure access to supported employment", he noted.
