The City of Murcia awarded 400,000 euros to fund 16 projects in development cooperation (18/12/2015)

The Board of Governors approved the amount of 400,000 euros for the grant of 16 development cooperation projects for 2015 call.

The objective of this call is to support projects that address improving the quality of life, primarily from countries included in the Master Plan 2013-2016 of the Spanish Cooperation.

The countries defined in the said Master Plan are: 12 in Latin America and the Caribbean (Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Dominican Republic);

4 in North Africa and the Middle East: Mauritania, Morocco, the Palestinian Territories and Saharawi population;

3 in sub-Saharan West Africa: Mali, Niger and Senegal;

3 in Central Africa, Eastern and Southern Africa: Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique;

1 in Asia: Philippines.

The projects to be subsidized are:

- 'Water supply and training for rural women of Lebanese and Syrian refugee women' Mullion Foundation.

Beneficiaries: 250 people.

- 'Improving the health situation in the region of Segou through the formation of diseases in public health and maternal care infantil' Manos Unidas.

Beneficiaries: 240 women.

- 'Habitability basic sanitation to 44 rural people belonging to the lowest Anantapur' district of Vicente Ferrer Foundation castes.

Beneficiaries: 44 people.

- 'To contribute to strengthening the opportunities for utilization of local resources, agricultural and handicraft sector, with particular reference to women's empowerment, for 330 inhabitants in the region of Gabes Tunez' of the Assembly of Cooperation for Peace.

Beneficiaries: 330 people.

- 'Improving access to primary and preventive health by strengthening laboratory production of medicines in Dominicana' Republic of Humanism and Democracy Foundation.

Beneficiaries: 574,572 people.

- 'Access to clean water and environmental awareness in the community of Jamo-Losrieles in La Vega, Dominicana' Republic of Karit Solidarity for Peace.

Beneficiaries: 990 people.

- 'Promoted pedagogical skills and access to educational resources to teachers in the municipalities of Anzaldo, Colomi, Santivañez, Tiquipaya, Arbieton and Cochabamba' of Intered Foundation.

Beneficiaries: 150 people

- 'Improving educational school social facilities "Brother Cristobal" in Matas of Farfan (Dominican Repúblia)' Vincentian Development Cooperation (COVIDE) Beneficiaries: 3,000 people.

- 'Education Fortalecimendo Lechecuagos, León (Nicaragua) Entreculturas, Fe y Alegría Foundation.

Beneficiaries: 1,181 people.

- 'Textile work for women in poverty in Santa Rosa, Callao' Answers Solidarity Association.

Beneficiaries: 86 people.

- 'Improving security conditions in the St. John of God Hospital in Lunsar for patient care during the post emergency in Sierra Leone' of Juan Ciudad Foundation.

Beneficiaries: 30,000 people.

- 'Improving the eye health of the population of Savannah, northern Togo' Blue in Action Murcia.

Beneficiaries: 2,500 people.

- 'Delimitation and protection of watersheds supplying water 19 Township Belfate' of INGIENERIA Without Borders.

Beneficiaries: 10,591 people.

- 'Creating suburban family gardens for food self-sustainability and ecopedagógicos processes, El Alto (Bolivia) Solidarity, Education and Development.

Beneficiaries: 515 people.

- 'Improving food security of the rural population Dialacoumbi Peublo of Manding in the Municipality of Coumbacara (Kolda) Senegal' Foundation Alliance for Rights, Equality and Solidarity International.

Beneficiaries: 832 people.

- 'Education and literacy for sustainable development and social justice for indigenous peoples of Paraguay' UNESCO Murcia Centre.

Beneficiaries: 25,000 people.

The areas that, priority should treat projects are: education, health, production, food security, women's empowerment, governance and infrastructure and environment.

Those aspects contributing to promote gender equality, human rights and respect for the environment are also assessed.

In addition, projects to be carried out in areas that may be affected by a war situation, and are intended to alleviate the damage suffered by the population, will be prioritized, multiplicándole obtain the total score by 1.2.
