Now Murcia: "The PP budgets do not promote employment or economic activity" (09/12/2015)

Councilman PSOE complaint that neither citizens nor have interest in opposition develop some alternative budgets

MURCIA NOW claims that the PP budgets proposed for 2016, contrary to what they say, not foster increased employment and economic activity.

Councilman Luis Bermejo says is a "captive budgets", since 60% is committed to personnel costs and for large contracts signed by the PP, and is intended only 1.9% of employment and 7 % investments, "which is a clearly insufficient quantities to serve as economic engine."

The mayor explained that "30% of the budget is committed in advance with the cost of municipal staff, and another 30% are mortgaged with public service contracts, the result of the privatization policy of the PP."

Therefore, it is only 40% of "operating budget", of which only 6% goes to social rights, investment 7% and less than 2% of employment.

"It is absurd and a clear electoral interest to say that their budgets will promote economic growth and employment generation," says Bermejo.

Now Murcia Councilman noted that budgets "do not reflect the agreements covering the budget in plenary meetings and the strengthening of employment programs, which again shows the inability of the PP to assume that governs in minority and to respect the Plenary agreements as the highest organ of citizen representation. "

Bermejo claims that the PP should have presented its draft budget almost three months ago, on October 15: "They have not wanted or have not been able to present it in a timely manner, and now demand that the opposition remedy in just three days they have done in six months. "

Moreover, the council stressed that the budgets presented by Martínez-Oliva are based on an estimate of revenue for 2016 "is not credible, since an increase in estimated revenue that would result from increased economic activity as which is expected to take place. "

Thus, the 1.13% increase in next year's budget compared to that of 2015 "is based on a forecast which do not materialize not allow the budget increase."

Bermejo Murcia notes that each contribute to the municipal budget in 2016 to 600 euros (including taxes, fees and fines), "so that a family of four members contributes 2,400 euros to the municipal coffers. Citizens must assess if their economic effort receives offs in the form of services, adequate ".

The mayor indicated also that the situation currently experienced by the Consistory regarding their budgets might have been different if PSOE and Citizen had had a clear willingness to develop some alternative budgets.

"What has happened," he says, "is that they have no interest in discussing this campaign, to not have to show which areas and items are their priorities."

Bermejo notes that "as far been driven by electoral interests, we hope that at least they use in their work in the Committee on Oversight Recruitment for renegotiating major contracts approved by the PP, as it will be the only way that we at City Hall to 'deshipotecar' budgets ".
