Common Front of City Hall and 16 associations to build an inclusive Murcia with people with disabilities (03/12/2015)

The Mayor, José Ballesta, signing cooperation agreements with agencies active in this field to promote actions that promote the welfare of all Murcia.

The agreements will allow developing projects to benefit people with different capacities.

The actions are aimed at full integration, from entertainment programs and free access to shared housing plans or the promotion of studies and employment time.

Near the town of 13,200 people will benefit directly from these agreements, the total amount exceeds 200,000 euros.

With the aim of building a more inclusive Murcia, that meets the needs and promotes the welfare of the disabled, the Mayor, José Ballesta, has this morning signed 16 cooperation agreements with many other associations working in this area.

The agreements cover various aspects and various actions, but all have the common thread of this ensure full integration by developing projects that benefit all Murcia, with special attention to those with different abilities.

Approximately 13,200 people will benefit directly from the work emanating from these agreements, whose total amounts to 208,000 euros.

The projects will be carried out ranging from cultural, entertainment and leisure, respite activities and social and communication skills, volunteer training, day center for the disabled in social marginalization, inclusive and leisure programs promoting independent living and assisted living.

"The goal is common to both the City Council for associations," said the mayor, because "we all move the interest in helping people by circumstances that were needed the most attention and our collaboration, as appropriate to Murcia as a cohesive society. "

Therefore, "we work together to ensure social welfare, because we have a great present and a better future full of hope for all," said Ballesta, opting for "an inclusive, friendly and accessible city for all".

Associations that have signed agreements to have the cooperation of the City to fund their projects are:

- AMUPHEB (Murcia Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida), carries out activities and services, educational, recreational, employment, educational, cultural and sporting assistance, favoring quality of life and full integration.

The agreement signed today will develop the "Home services and support for families with affected children with spina bifida."

- ASSIDO (Association for Persons with Down syndrome) has among its objectives to improve the quality of life of people with Down syndrome and their families, promoting the full development of their individual capabilities, promoting the creation of centers and pedagogical services , scientific and clinical teaching, education, rehabilitation, training and protection of all people with Down syndrome, favoring the full family, school, social and occupational integration.

With the agreement approved today will conduct the project "Walking towards independence, autonomy of the person with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities".

- AUXILIA MURCIA (Association of Volunteers for Cultural and Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities) aims to contribute to the integral development of persons with physical disabilities through actions aimed at improving their quality of life, achieve full integration, personal autonomy the individual with a disability in accordance with the principles of accessibility, integration and standardization, for which it uses and seeks necessary resources and means to achieve prevent social exclusion.

The agreement signed with the Municipality will go to finance the Programme Leisure and Recreation Program Family Respite, Project Theatre and Corporal Expression, Program Summer Camps, which are included in the generic project "Social care for people Physical Disability Auxilia.-Murcia "which includes actions aimed to contribute to the integral development of persons with physical disabilities and improve their quality of life.

- FEAPS-Murcia (Federation of Organizations for People with Intellectual Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy) pursues the promotion of activities, courses and seminars on various aspects of mental disability and cerebral palsy, providing or using the media, training and outreach to raise awareness of the problems of people with mental disabilities and cerebral palsy and their families.

The agreement will develop its annual program of activities.

- Fundown (Down Syndrome Foundation) has as its purpose the promotion and realization of all activities all contribute to improving the living conditions and seek the full family, social and occupational integration and the development of a normal life of people with syndrome Down.

The agreement with Social Rights will address the development of the project "Inclusive Leisure for people with mental disabilities" and "School of life: Shared Housing Program".

- New Horizon Association works for standardization, integration and knowledge of the resources offered by their immediate environment and its region, contributing to respite and increasing training for people with mental disabilities through leisure activities and workshops.

The collaboration with the City will promote the development of the actions included in the annual program of activities.

- Association of Parents and Guardians of Mentally Handicapped (ASPAPROS) held their program this agreement Disabled Psychic Integration in social life, among its objectives the promotion of health, personal recovery, training and protective guardianship diminished psychic, and the rehabilitation of family environments, promote studies and research, creation and improvement of personal and professional centers for the mentally handicapped training and employment promotion.

- Association for Persons with ASD of Murcia (ASTEAMUR) aims to improve the quality of life of those affected and their families, promote school, work and social integration of this group and defend the dignity and rights they they are themselves.

The agreement signed today will develop a project to adapt to the social context of 25 children and adolescents with disorders that lead autistic symptoms associated type, namely a workshop on social and communication skills that allow young children affected can lead a life normalized as possible.

- Association for Integration of the Mentally Handicapped (CEOM) offers people with mental disabilities who request it and their families with the necessary resources so that they can initiate an approach, training and learning model to the independent living family in order to promote social inclusion.

The agreement with the City Council aims to develop the program "supervised for housing people with intellectual disabilities."

- Federation of the Deaf of the Region of Murcia (FESORMU) represents the interests of associations of deaf people and their families, in order to promote the autonomy and independence of this group, remove communication barriers to those are submitted and promote their access to training and employment equality.

In this case, the agreement will run the "Program for the development of the autonomy of deaf people in the municipality of Murcia."

- Murcia Regional Association of Hemophilia: helps solve the specific problems of people with deficiency of antihemophilic factors and education deals with carriers of the defect and their families, and to promote occupational and formal training and employment through the creation of subsidiary companies and self-employment for disabled groups.

- Aid Foundation, Education and Integration of the Disabled (AFIM) deals with the care, support and comprehensive assistance to people with disabilities of all kinds in order to its standardization and social integration.

With the agreement signed with the Municipality developed the "Day Centre for Disabled Social Exclusion" project.

- Association of Paraplegic and Physically Handicapped of the Autonomous Region of Murcia (ASPAYM-Murcia): enables the SCI and large Disabled acquire knowledge and skills to their full integration, providing support and collaboration to manage employment, organizing courses and contribute to the awareness of society to become aware of their need for integration.

The collaboration of Social Rights is directed towards the development of its annual program of activities.

- Association for the Treatment of People with Cerebral Palsy (ASTRAPACE) provides treatment to people with cerebral palsy, psychomotor retardation and related disorders in order to improve the quality of life of people with some involvement, promoting the development of their capabilities individual, promoting the creation of centers of educational, welfare and labor issues, promoting the full family, school, social and occupational integration.

- Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (FAMDIF / COCEMFE): supports associations of people with physical and / or organic federated.

The City Council wanted to match the signing of these cooperation agreements with the commemoration of the International Day of Disabled Persons, which this year addresses the theme "Inclusion matter: access and empowerment for people with all kinds of capacity."

The aim of the conference is to raise awareness on disability issues, mobilize support for the dignity, rights and welfare of these people, and try to raise awareness about the benefits to be derived from the integration of its in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
