45 centers and more than 6,000 people will have participated in the school garden Ecological Network of the City of Murcia (01/12/2015)

The 'ecological network of the municipality of Murcia School Gardens' (RHEMU), celebrates its eighth edition this year, and with the participation of 45 centers and more than 6,000 people since the beginning of this project.

This action by the Department of Planning, Environment and Huerta led by Antonio Navarro, whose main objective is the establishment of gardens in schools as a learning resource, where organic farming is the way to approach them through environmental education all values ​​which includes an orchard.

Antonio Navarro has visited the Colegio Santa Joaquina de Vedruna, which said that "the school garden is a very appropriate way to bring nature to elementary school children, as well, work all areas of the curriculum through the school garden" .

Santa Joaquina College Vedruna, made official his garden in 1992, has been operating since the late 80s, and in the course 2015/2016 have started a new garden project, giving also secondary participation for the first time, where they perform jobs technology research, record sheets, experiments, seed among many other things.

The school garden, said Navarro Corchón, "is a didactic environmental disclosure aimed at facilitating the practical knowledge of the techniques of organic agriculture and its contribution to sustainable development".

This project, said the head of the Environment, "is an excellent resource that allows students multiple experiences about their natural and rural environment, helping them understand the relationships and dependencies that we have with him, implementing attitudes and habits care and environmental responsibility. "

In total 45 schools that have joined this network to propose offer the following benefits:

- Advisory Service.

- Assist the planning and implementation of gardens.

- An annual prize of material for the school garden.

- Loan of tools.

- Service literature and documentation of school gardens and organic farming.

- Environmental education activities,

- Making lesson plans for school gardens.

- Talks of entities and / or experts involved in organic farming, health, food, etc.

- Dissemination of school gardens on websites and social networks.

- A distinctive image of the Network.

- Organisation of training sessions for sharing experiences.
