The Governing Board today gave the green light to the award of the meals on wheels service run by the Department of Social Rights who leads Conchita Ruiz, and distributed 300 food delivery over 65 who live alone, who live with a dependent or someone who present disabilities and with limited family support person.

The daily menu consists of salad, starter, main dish, bread and dessert appropriate, consisting of fresh fruit or dairy dessert.

During the year we have served over 78,000 menus users who enjoy the service, 7,289 menus every month.

At present, the beneficiaries are served a daily menu for midday meal adapted to their health needs.

In addition to the basal diet (normal), diets tailored to different diseases and food intolerances that can present service users are served.

The menu cost is borne almost entirely by the city of Murcia and users participate in the cost thereof to the economic contribution of 2 euros per menu.

The company 'New Mediterranean Cuisine 2002', will be responsible for providing this service with more than 660,649 euros for two years and held investment menus in which various aspects are taken into account as the nutritional and organoleptic quality (composition, structure , rotation features and menus ...).

Also, they establish a work plan in which the Plan of distribution and delivery, emergency menu and other contingencies as food alert and disease user programmed.

This service coverage is given to the group of older people who are in situations of greater vulnerability and social exclusion, either because of social isolation, with little or no family support and limited capacity of personal autonomy, among other social factors .

Thus, it is intended that the elderly person is in this circumstance has ensured the maintenance of proper diet, avoiding the problems and consequences arising from insufficient or inadequate diet.

Thus maintaining the older person is favored in their usual environment of coexistence and coverage is given to those elderly who are in a situation or risk of social exclusion.
