The UCAM has analyzed this morning food false myths about this disease for World Day Dietitian-Nutritionist

Campus Jeronimos has joined this morning to celebrate the World Day Dietitian-Nutritionist, which this year has focused on diabetes, with a series of events organized by the Association of the Region of Murcia and the Department of Food Technology and Nutrition UCAM.

Activity intervened Francisco Miguel Celdrán, dean of the College of Dietitians of the region and professor at the Catholic University of Murcia;

Carmen Lucas, Professor, Department of Food Technology and Nutrition of the University;

and Silvia Serrano, representative of the Murcia Association for Diabetes Care.

Francisco Miguel Celdrán objectives highlighted Day Dietitian-Nutritionist profession is to promote and publicize the role the healthcare professional society.

On the subject of diabetes it has stated that "70% of type 2 diabetes can be prevented with good habits, such as practicing physical exercise and eat a good diet, proper nutrition and training from a professional."

Meanwhile, Silvia Serrano, has also stressed "the importance of nutrition to prevent this type of disease."

For this, the dietitian should exercise a key role in the 'diabetes education' because "14 100 people in the population has diabetes."

UCAM professor, Marta Rodriguez, gave the presentation "Zero Diabetes', which discussed, among other issues, the myths of food for people with diabetes.
