The National Music Band Contest City of Murcia turns 25 (10/11/2015)

The National Contest of Bands City of Murcia meet next weekend 25 years.

The Romea Theatre will host performances by music bands inscribed Second Section, composed of between 51 and 70 musicians, and First Section, of 71 to 90 musicians.

So, on Saturday, November 14, at 18 pm will act bands Second Section which are the musical group Montesinos (Los Montesinos - Alicante), the Municipal Band Morata de Tajuña (Madrid) and the Musical Society Cehegín ( Murcia)

Sunday, November 15, at 18 am, will be the turn of the Music Association Moteña (Mota del Cuervo - Cuenca), the Band Association Friends of Music of Yecla (Murcia) and the Musical Society The Muses Guadalupe (Murcia).

Admission is free with invitation which can be picked up at the box office of the Teatro Romea from Friday, with a maximum of two tickets per person.

Before his performance, the bands will perform a parade from the Plaza de Belluga to the Romea Theater.

In order to promote the work of composers of the Region of Murcia, the bands will be forced to interpret a work by a composer Murcia, this time will be Juan Jose Beltran, composer, trumpeter, arranger and teacher.

The contest Ciudad de Murcia is a project with great national importance, and the proof is the numerous participation requests received from different regions such as Galicia, Andalusia, Aragon, Valencia, Madrid and Castilla La Mancha.

The council has ended by saying that "this event is one of the most important of the Spanish state, due to the rigor and seriousness of the work developed in the own technical organization of the Federation of Bands of Murcia, as well as due each year to the presence of a jury that has a very high musical level, in all its aspects: technical, theoretical, pedagogical, managerial, concertístico, composition ... "

The jury, on a proposal from the Federation of Bands of Murcia, is composed of personalities from the world of music, such as Fernando Bonnet, chief conductor of the Municipal Band of Valencia;

Antonio Ginés Abellán, former director of the Conservatory of Murcia and founder of the first Saxophone Quartet of Spain, and Juan José Navarro, director of the Polyphonic Choir of the University of Almeria.

Each juror may grant from 0 to 10 points, admitting fractions midpoint for each of the following: pitch, loudness, interpretation and technique to each of the acting bands therefore the compulsory work, such as that of free choice.

In all bands are given a sum of money to help them participate in the contest (1,100 euros to the First Section and 1,000 euros to the Second Section), and the following prizes:

- Section One: 1st prize 2,000 euros, 2nd prize 1,600 euros and 1,200 euros 3rd Prize.

- Section Two: 1st prize 1,800 euros, 2nd prize 1,500 euros and 1,100 euros 3rd Prize.
