The role of food supermarkets in job creation and economic recovery in the region has been one of the points highlighted by the Mayor, José Ballesta, and the Councillor for Commerce, María del Carmen Pelegrin, after the meeting that they have held this morning with representatives of the Association of Supermarkets -Asumur- Murcia, which was attended by the president of the organization, Luis Navarro, the executive secretary, Ana Belen Martinez, the manager, Javier Ruano.
The organization operates in the region with 400 outlets, maintains 5,200 direct jobs, 1,000 million euros recorded billing and Murcia suppliers make purchases exceeding 850 million euros.
Founded in 2004, mainly it represents the format supermarket power not exceeding 2,000 square meters of sales area: Upper.Spar Group, Mercadona, Consum, more and more, Supermarkets Group and The Tree Day, Musgrave Spain, Supermarkets and Superdumbo Amusa.
Commercial distribution has experienced in recent years major changes that have allowed it to become a dynamic and competitive sector by adapting to the demands of consumers.
