The Community and the city of Murcia agree to improve the coordination of 1-1-2 and Civil Protection services of the municipality (08/11/2015)

The Community and the city of Murcia agreed this week to improve the coordination of 1-1-2 Emergency Center Murcia and the Association of Civil Protection of the municipality, in order to optimize the mobilization of resources from both public administrations available.

This was stated by the Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagan, and the Councillor for Traffic Safety and Civil Protection, Maria Dolores Sanchez, during the meeting held this week, also attended by the director general of Public Safety and Emergency, Manuel Duran.

"In addition, we will work on increasing the training of volunteers so that they can be better prepared for any emergency, and also to meet the requirements set by the current legislation," said the CEO.

Manuel Duran added that both governments will hold a joint work for the promotion and implementation of volunteer civil protection in the various districts of the city.

Moreover, the CEO explained that "the Ministry of Presidency is pushing definitively drafting municipal emergency plans against specific risks."

"We will work with the city of Murcia for the drafting of these plans, concerning both seismic emergencies like floods," said Manuel Duran.

He also highlighted the work that provides the Psychological First Aid Unit (PAPU), serving during the weekend in the city, as well as a new Health Unit, "which complement the professional emergency services".
