The UCAM participates in Science Week with more than twenty activities (06/11/2015)

The scientific activity for a few days leave classrooms and laboratories of the Catholic University of Murcia to settle in the Garden of Malecón de Murcia, on the occasion of the celebration of the Science Week.

Through 11 stands, and more than twenty activities, UCAM research approach, from Friday to Sunday 8, at all ages.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Business and Innovation of the CARM, and the Seneca Foundation.

This year, as new, the institution has presented activities related to dentistry, informing the audience about the importance of oral care to prevent future illness;

gastronomy, through the elaboration of different traditional dishes of the Mediterranean diet, or 3D printing of biomaterials.

The rector of the University, Josefina Garcia Lozano, highlighted the importance of this event that allows young watch live research conducted by universities;

and assured that "there can not be a good teaching if it is not supported by quality research. And if there is no university teaching, research and knowledge transfer to society."

Robots and drones

The degrees of the Polytechnic School presented several workshops adapted to all ages, ranging from the measurement of sound levels in decibels;

see the possibilities offered by a drone in the world of architecture, archeology, restoration or property, or know the workings of a 3D printer to build your own robot.

Create your own cream

In the field of health they are also various activities held in the UCAM Science Week.

Through Degree in Pharmacy visitors can perform there moisturizing gel aloe vera which subsequently may lead.

In addition, also in the area of ​​medicine, participants can attend a mini course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, where word of mouth, unclogging airway choking and use of semi-automatic defibrillator simulator maneuvers are performed chest compressions, breathing.

On the trail

Attendees will learn how they work and material used by criminologists.

For this, the degree in Criminology at the Catholic recreate the scene of a crime in the workshops revealed that fingerprint analysis of bone samples and hemoglobin detection test will be performed.

In sport several activities will be held.

Radio

The university radio iRadio UCAM, produce from the Science Week some of its programs, particularly involving the audience who may therefore intervene in the same as knowing how a program is made.
